The film set out to visually capture how 1.5- and second-generation Latinos who have grown up in the Nashville metropolitan area see themselves and the places they call home. Rooted in research that the producer/co-director has carried out since 2018, the film brings to life voices gathered through interviews and focus groups, blending them with everyday scenes of Nashville and its surroundings. Through the lens of local actors and voiceovers, it portrays the search for belonging, identity, and community in a region where Latino stories are often overlooked but increasingly shape the cultural fabric of the contemporary South. The film uses an ethnographic and documentary storytelling approach, blending academic research with creative visual expression. Participants’ real voices and stories, drawn from interviews and focus groups, are paired with scenes of everyday life to create an authentic portrayal of Latino identity in the contemporary South.
