Living in/the (In)visible Peripheries
In India, urban peripheries are largely neglected in the planning and development of cities as a result they become places of severe social, environmental and health inequalities. Peripheral regions are often perceived as ‘transitional’ and ‘in between’ spaces of development lying in the interface of the urban and rural .Due to relatively cheap land prices, they offer are more affordable housing for the poor and middle income families, however people face several everyday challenges The short film captures the everyday life and lived experiences of people in peripheries of Chennai City showing the embedded marginalization and socio-spatial and environmental injustices.

One, If By Land
Spanish, English and Portuguese with English Subtitles One, if by Land is not a film that attempts to have answers to the noisy debate around immigration policies, but through grim but evocative imagery of these journeys, it raises questions as to why this impossibility should exist in the first place.

Wild Honey: Caring for Bees in a Divided Land
Tetum/English subtitles For more than a century, the island of Timor has been divided by a colonial border. This border has displaced and separated the people of Lookeu, dividing their land, water and history. Timor’s migratory wild honey bees challenge this division. Their migrations are essential to the agricultural and spiritual wellbeing of the people and places who depend upon them. In community honey harvest rituals, queen bees are courted in ceremony by men who climb high into the canopy to sing nocturnal forest love songs. These songs express gratitude to the bees, enticing and imploring them to give up their sweetness and maintain their seasonal visits. Warning this film depicts death.

The Fisherman
In the Fisherman, we see a man from the Mzeina tribe on the beach in Nuweiba, preparing to fish. The coast is a natural border. Bedouin tribes in this area first arrived from the other side of the Red Sea (Arabia) over 300 years ago. Up until the creation of nation states in the 19/20th century they would still travel back and forth quite easily over the sea. Today each tribe tends to fish when allowed but only in their territory. Both men and women fish by walking or swimming out to sea with a line. Some also fish by boat and harpoon. Some of this fishing is not 'legal' according to local regulations but most local communities rely on some kind of fishing for survival. This is not mass fishing. The Origin Story
There are many versions of the origins of the tribes in the Sinai. Here Said Khedr from the Alegat tribe tells the story he learnt as a child. Part of the series of films from A Different Sense of Space: How Bedouins Mapped the Sinai https://bedouinborders.org.

Salobre
Spanish with English Subtitles Fishers and farmers discuss the beauties of the mangrove ecosystem of the largest, most productive tropical lagoon of the Caribbean coast of Colombia, the Cienaga Grande de Santa Marta, and explain their connections with it: how the lagoon provides them with resources, how they experience periods of drought and flood, how the lagoon and its biodiversity has changed over time, and how it is threatened by environmental degradation.

Oro
A still film of spliced frames, shot on an art-geography residency on Oro, a former military island on the Finnish archipelago in January 2016. A film which examines the material tracings and ecological patternings of a multi-species island in transition: from fortress to conservation. Still frames with emergent possibility and shifts in scale. The sound of sea ice cracking, fence wires humming, concrete bunkers reverberating.
