Blind Spots
āBlind Spotā aims to hear women in Amballoor express their thoughts, reflections, and concerns regarding the challenges as well as opportunities presented by climate change. Women in Amballoor face myriad transformations to their physical and social surroundings due to increasing climate precarity yet are not provided abundant opportunities to vocalise their thoughts in formal planning and policy channels.. Making the film was an opportunity to grasp how this sense of trust is interwoven into the social and material landscape of Amballoor. The research project found that patriarchal forces present in the community impacted the ability of women participants to vocalise their thoughts to our research group. IThis impact did not emerge through direct silencing, but rather a regulating of time and engagement. On one hand, the film enabled the voices of the participants to emerge from a difficult research situation. On the other, the making of the film encountered the same forces that participants must navigate themselves.
