Fifty Voices
The film foregrounds how environmental engagement is unevenly distributed across space, class and access. Set within the North York Moors river catchment, it highlights how spatial isolation, deprivation and limited transport infrastructure shape who can participate in nature-based activities and whose voices influence environmental decision-making.
By documenting everyday leisure practices and community-led stewardship, the film reframes justice as relational and place-based, extending beyond human communities to multispecies wellbeing. It shows how inclusive participation, local ecological knowledge and collective action can redistribute environmental agency, supporting more just, climate-resilient landscapes rooted in lived experience rather than top-down governance.
