For Decent Housing
Part of a wider project aiming to visibilise community‑led planning practices and facilitate the sharing of knowledge among grassroots organisations, researchers and wider publics. Developed within the EU‑funded Contested Territories programme, the film – one episode in the Community‑Led Planning short‑film series – emerged through collaboration with academic partners at the University of Buenos Aires and the University of Chile, and with civil society organisations such as Ukamau.
The film set out to document how residents in Estación Central organise collectively to confront displacement pressures and co‑design dignified social housing. Its purpose was not only to narrate a local struggle but to contribute to a transnational archive of grassroots urban practices hosted on the Urban Prefigurations digital platform. By centring community voices, the film promotes peer‑to‑peer learning, supports public understanding of housing inequalities and strengthens networks of collective action across Latin America and beyond.
