Inhabiting the Mega-Event City
The effectiveness of lived experience in producing knowledge for academic research and beyond and Knowledge Exchange and transnational grassroots organizing as a powerful tool for scholar-activist research. The documentary follows a group of scholar-activists engaged in community-based Geographical research as they organized a knowledge exchange between a network of grassroots social-justice activists, practitioners, community organisers and others from the harm reduction and housing justice movements in Paris and Vancouver, Canada – where the 2010 transformed the city and altered lives forever – who engaged in transnational grassroots knowledge exchange (or “praxis mobilities”) to get boots on the ground in each others’ cities. The film explores the benefits of transnational coommunity-based scholar-activist research in Geography as both epistemiological engagement and transgressive research methodology.
