Please don´t freeze
The film explores how the phenomenon of “freezing” in Parkinson’s disease shapes the relationship between the body and space in everyday environments. It focuses on how moments of sudden immobility disrupt seemingly barrier-free infrastructures and challenge fundamental assumptions about continuous, autonomous movement.
Rather than viewing freezing as an individual deficit, the film understands it as a situational and embodied experience that arises from the interplay of body, space, and use. It deliberately avoids a medicalizing or voyeuristic portrayal, instead directing attention to the spatial conditions that enable or restrict participation.
The film makes “hidden barriers” visible that are often overlooked in conventional planning approaches. It shows how such experiences point to previously overlooked dimensions of spatial inequality.
In doing so, the film contributes to questions of inclusive design and spatial justice and explores how built environments can better respond to different bodies and modes of movement.
